UV Protection Window Film in Toronto
Sunlight through a window is pleasant right up until the leather sofa fades, the hardwood bleaches in front of the glass, and the art on the wall loses its colour. Fading is not a summer problem, it is a UV problem, and UV passes through glass all year. UV protection window film blocks up to 99% of UV rays while keeping your view clear.
How UV fades what you own
Fading comes from three sources: UV radiation, visible light and heat. UV does most of the damage, breaking down dyes, finishes and fibres in furniture, flooring, artwork and fabric. South and west facing rooms fade fastest, but any glass that gets direct sun is quietly working on whatever sits near it. Retailers feel it too: merchandise displayed near windows loses colour long before it sells.
What UV film does
- Blocks up to 99% of UV rays, the main cause of fading
- Slows colour loss in furniture, rugs, hardwood and art
- Protects retail merchandise and window displays
- Cuts a share of solar heat, so rooms stay cooler in summer
- Stays nearly invisible, so views and daylight are unchanged
This page is about protection. If your main goal is cutting heat and glare, see our heat and sun control film page. Many customers get both in one film.
Where UV protection earns its cost
Homes: living rooms with hardwood, leather and artwork, nurseries, home offices and condos with wall to wall glass, all covered on our residential window film page. Businesses: retail stores with window merchandise, restaurants with banquettes in the sun, clinics and offices with lobby furniture, part of our commercial window tinting service. Museums and galleries use the same technology to protect collections.
Clear film, not dark tint
UV protection film is not dark window tint. The film we install for fading protection is close to invisible on the glass, so heritage homes, storefronts and showrooms keep their exact look. If you also want privacy, frosted and one way options can go on separate panes, quoted from $7 to $10 per square foot.
