Tesla owners call us for a different reason than most drivers. It is almost never about looks. It is the glass: a windshield that runs up into the roof, a fixed panel over the back seats, and side windows with almost no film from the factory.
That glass is beautiful and it is also a solar collector. In July, a Model Y parked on a Vaughan driveway for two hours will be hotter inside than a sedan with a normal roof, because the roof is doing nothing to stop radiant heat.
What a Tesla tint costs in Toronto for 2026
Ceramic film only. We do not install dyed or carbon film on any car, because those products absorb heat instead of rejecting it and the results on a glass roof car are poor.
- Front two windows only: $99
- Model 3 and other sedans: $179
- Model Y and other SUVs: $199
- Vans and larger vehicles: $239
Model S and Model X follow their body style: S is a sedan at $179, X is an SUV at $199. Older Model S cars with more glass can run higher once we see the panes, and we confirm before anything is cut.
What the glass roof adds
A roof panel is a separate quote, because it is a different job and a different film. Tesla already tints the roof glass dark, so adding a dark film there is pointless. What you want on a roof is heat rejection without more darkness, which means a clear ceramic product or a roof shade. Most owners are better served by film on the four side windows and a proper sunshade for the roof.
Why ceramic and not something cheaper
Ceramic film rejects infrared heat rather than relying on darkness. On a car where the cabin is mostly glass, that difference is the whole point: you stay cool without turning the car into a cave, and your night visibility and police attention stay where they should be. It also does not interfere with cell signal, which a metalized film can.
Keeping it legal in Ontario
Ontario sets no numeric limit on side window darkness, but front glass must give a clear view and the windshield cannot be filmed below its top edge. For a Tesla we normally recommend a matching light shade on the front two windows and something darker on the rear three, because the rear glass is already factory tinted and no requirement applies there once the mirrors are visible.
Full windshield film is not something we will install. If someone offers it, understand that you are taking the risk on a ticket and a re inspection yourself.
How long it takes and where
Side windows are a two to three hour job. Cars are done by appointment at our North York shop, and we do not need the car overnight. Bring it in, we will show you the shades on real glass before committing.
Is it worth it on a lease
Film is removable and generally accepted at return if it is in good condition and was installed properly. If you are two years into a four year lease and the cabin heat is the complaint, film is cheaper than a new car.
