Scarborough has more variety than almost anywhere else in the city. Bluffs houses with lake views, Town Centre condos, 1960s bungalows with single pane windows, and plaza storefronts along Kingston Road and Sheppard. Each one has a different reason to call a window film installer.
We install film across Scarborough for homes, businesses and cars. Here is what each kind of property actually needs.
Houses near the Bluffs and the lake
Lake reflection is brutal on the high ground along the Bluffs, and the sun off the water hits windows at an angle that makes afternoon living rooms unusable. Solar film on those panes cuts the glare and heat while keeping the view that sold the house. UV film matters just as much here, because lakefront light fades furniture fast.
Older bungalows and single pane windows
A large share of Scarborough housing dates from the 1950s to 1970s, and plenty of those windows are original. That is where low-e film earns its money, cutting the winter chill that radiates off cold glass and making the front room usable again in January. Replacing those windows is a five figure job. Film is a one visit improvement.
Condos around Scarborough Town Centre
Tower units face west over the 401 and the Civic Centre, which means heat, glare on screens and privacy from the next building. Solar film on the exposed glass, frosted film on balcony doors, and we always check the sealed unit type first because high-rise glass has heat limits.
Clinics, offices and plazas
Along Sheppard, Markham Road and Kingston Road there are dozens of clinics, dental offices, insurance branches and retail units with glass frontage. Frosted bands give the front desk privacy, sandblast style film makes conference rooms usable, and security film reinforces ground floor glass. We install after hours.
What it costs in Scarborough
Frosted and privacy films run $7 to $10 per square foot installed. Solar, low-e and security films are quoted per project from glass type and exposure. Car ceramic tint is done at our North York shop: $99 for two front windows, $179 sedan or coupe, $199 SUV, $239 van. Full pricing is in our Toronto pricing guide.
One company, one trade
We do not sell blinds, install windows or dabble in anything else. Window film is the entire business, cars, homes and businesses, which is why the glass checks, the plotter cuts and the warranty conversation are standard rather than optional. If you want to compare installers properly, our checklist of questions covers what to ask.
